- Understand the importance of clinical trials in the paediatric population.
Clinical trials have historically only been performed in adults. The pediatric population has been inferior in number and it has normally been in good health.
After 2007 it was considered that, when a clinical trial for a drug is needed, the paediatric population should be included if it is susceptible to develop the disease.
Oncology and its treatments remain a field where there is still, and for obvious reasons, a significant discrimination between the world of paediatrics and the world of adult patients.
Childhood diseases make paediatric research necessary.
